Coronado Trail

About the Motorcycle Trail

  •  118 miles.
  • This motorcycle ride is best left to more advanced riders. There are 5,000 feet in elevation change from the start to the end and over 400 curves on the route!
  • Enjoy desert views, the world's largest open-pit copper mines, a canyon, and pine and aspen forests.

Tourist Attractions

  • Enjoy plenty of camping spots and hiking trails along the way. 
  • The small towns of Pine and Morenci offer some restaurants.
  • Morenci is a copper mining town and you can arrange a tour of the mine.

  • Start at Clifton and ride down Hwy 191 until you reach Eagar.

Flagstaff to Sedona

  • The motorcycle ride does contain switch backs and steep ascents/descents.
  • The road can be crowded, so motorcycle riders should pay extra attention for distracted drivers that get lost looking at the scenery. The road itself is well-maintained and high quality.

  • Take 89A south out of Flagstaff and head towards Sedona.

Tortilla Flat

  • 22 miles.
  • Enjoy stunning mountain views, Canyon Lake, and even a gold mine ghost town.
  • The road is curvy with some switchbacks and one lane bridges.
  • This route is best left to more experienced riders due to the many steep fall offs and other potential hazards. Rain within the last day can make the road's surface even more challenging, so pay attention to how the weather affects the route's safety.

  • Enjoy a stage coach shop in Tortilla Flat as well as food and ice cream.
  • Directions

  • Start at the Old West Highway and Apache Trail in Apache Junction.
  • Take Apache Trail Northeast and stay on Apache Trail.
  • The route ends a few miles after Tortilla Flat when the pavement turns into a dirt road.
